  • I Silenti is the poetic expression of those who are silenced, the voiceless, of what has disappeared over time, of the blank pages of unwritten letters. It becomes a catalyst towards other ends: those of comfort, healing, regeneration
and beauty. The project is conceived around the Gypsy jazz singer and multiinstrumentalist Tcha Limberger. He embodies a musical and literary nomadism that extends into the geographical and timeless depths of orality. The fact that he has been blind from birth has protected him from the superfluity of appearances, so that he has always remained connected to the essential; from his prodigious voice, the most intense songs emerge; from his violin, the most moving melodies resonate. Beyond his universality, he is naturally at one with his people, the Roma. His sublime gift and his blindness are perhaps not unrelated to the trauma that his people have experienced, the ‘forgotten
Holocaust’ that sealed their words with the convention of silence. Echoing this repertory, Monteverdi’s madrigals were the first vocal works to express human emotions with their dramas, passions and joys. The music is rooted in the words and their meaning; from the very heart of these polyphonic pieces, Monteverdi created the opera as a new genre.

  • Aka Balkan Moon and AlefBa are two projects, the core of which is Aka Moon, that essential jazz trio (Fabrizio Cassol : sax, Stéphane Galland : drums, Michel Hatzigeorgiou : bass). Their refreshing approach to jazz and to ethnic musical genres such as funk and rock gives the trio a highly distinctive sound. In their richly filled career they have worked with dozens of artists from different backgrounds in numerous projects.

The Aka Balkan Moon project draws its inspiration from the gypsy tradition of the Balkans. Assisted by violinist Tcha Limberger and Italian pianist Fabian Fiorini, the trio went in search of musical fellow travellers and found four virtuoso Bulgarian musicians. The result is a unique blend between contemporary jazz and traditional folk music.

The AlefBa project brings together 12 artists, half of them coming from Europe, the other half from Syria, Egypt and Lebanon, in order to create what could be called a Musical and Poetic Suite in Arabic Languages. But AlefBa is not solely a Mediterranean project; it also brings together ‘universal, unidentifiable souls’ at the crossroads of several origins, between gipsy, Transylvanian and Balkan cultures.

  • OakTree is an acoustic music trio, exploring the potential of the unusual combination of voice, cello and accordion; an adventure into sound colour and texture, full of surprises, nourished by jazz music, folk and chanson, that transports the listener to the land of dreams (J-C Van Troyen - Le Soir). A poetic and unbound music is brought alive by three generous musical tightrope walkers who invite the listener’s imagination to wake up and dance!

Following their first album “à dos d’âmes” (MognoMusic 2012), intimate and adventurous, oscillating between compositions and free improvisation, the new album ‘well’ puts forward original compositions with the exception of the cover of Sam Cooke’s “A change is gonna come”.
OakTree’s writing is interwoven with those of their guest musicians, both on tour and for the album: Michel Massot (trombone and tubas), Tcha Limberger (violin and voice) and Kristof Hiriart (voice and percussion), all three of them approached for the originality of their musical idiom, their spontaneity and the life in their music.
The encounter was magical and rich in many ways! Stimulated and inspired, the trio explores new horizons, dares new musical choices and offers a music that is more grounded and engaged...  more

  • When the choreographer Alain Platel suggested to Fabrizio Cassol the idea of writing music inspired by Claudio Monteverdi?s Vespri della Beata Vergine for the dance production VSPRS, it became clearly necessary to involve three constellations of musicians as different as the members of the baroque ensemble Oltremontano under the direction of Wim Becue, the gypsies Tcha Limberger and Vilmos Csikos, and the all-rounders of Aka Moon. The singers succeeded wonderfully in expressing themselves within this constellation of musicians and in making the link that has ensured a common musical feel, a group sound that lies at the heart of this enchanting and fascinating new version of the Vespri. While attempting to preserve Monteverdi?s original spirit, Fabrizio Cassol has often replaced the original Western colours with oriental hues, introducing Indian ragas and melodic and rhythmic turns of phrase from sub-Saharan or gypsy music. The vocal treatment is dramatised to a greater extent, the role of the sole voice being that of a story teller, a master of ceremonies, or a medium of invisible forces. Running through this version are three interweaving, symbolic lyrical parts: the voice as bearer of the creative spirit, the violin as a heavenly chant, and Stéphane Galland?s percussion as a song of the earth. These three...  more
